Founder of RuffTown Records,Bullet, has called on organisers of the Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA) to reinstate dancehall artiste Shatta Wale, arguing that his presence would inject excitement and boost audience engagement.

Speaking in an interview on Okay FM on Wednesday, Bullet said Shatta Wale remains a key figure in Ghana’s music industry whose involvement would enhance the overall appeal of the awards scheme.

“I think they should bring back Shatta Wale. If only they are willing to and would listen to me, they should bring him back,” he said.

According to him, the artiste’s large and loyal fanbase plays a significant role in amplifying the energy and competitiveness of events.

“They should bring him back to make it more fun because, after all, he is still a Ghanaian musician, so they should talk things out with him,” Bullet added.

Bullet stressed that healthy rivalry is essential for the growth of the music industry, noting that Shatta Wale’s participation often drives public interest.

“I do not care if anybody disagrees… but when he is involved in something, his fanbase makes it fun. We all need competition,” he said.

Shatta Wale has had a strained relationship with the TGMA scheme over the years, particularly following a high-profile incident at the 2019 edition involving fellow dancehall artiste Stonebwoy.

The confrontation erupted after Stonebwoy was announced winner of the Reggae/Dancehall Artiste of the Year category, leading to chaos inside the auditorium when members of both camps clashed on stage.

The situation escalated when Stonebwoy briefly pulled a gun, causing panic among patrons and forcing organisers to halt the event. Both artistes were subsequently arrested and later granted bail.

The incident remains one of the most controversial moments in the history of the awards scheme.

While TGMA organisers have yet to respond to the call, industry watchers say a potential reconciliation could reignite fan interest and restore competitive momentum to Ghana’s biggest music awards platform.
