BusinessmanRichard Nii Armah Quaye has proposed an out-of-court settlement in an attempt to resolve his ongoing divorce dispute with his former wife, Joana Quaye.

In a letter dated 7 May 2026, lawyers for Quaye, Sory & Partners@Law, informed Dame & Partners, counsel for Mrs. Quaye, that their client was prepared to make an enhanced financial offer in the interest of peace and family harmony.

The proposal, described as “without prejudice,” is intended to promote the welfare and emotional well-being of the couple’s children and bring finality to the dispute between both parties.

According to the letter, although the High Court had previously ordered an alimony payment of GH¢300,000, Mr Quaye is now proposing to pay GH¢2 million as part of a comprehensive settlement package.

His legal team said the businessman is seeking to resolve all outstanding issues and avoid further litigation in the matter.

The latest development comes amid an ongoing legal and procedural dispute surrounding the divorce proceedings.

Earlier, Mrs Quaye petitioned the Chief Justice and the Judicial Council over the conduct of the trial judge, Justice Justin Dorgu.

In her petition, she alleged that the court issued final orders on 20 January 2026, but the full written judgment was only made available on 20 April 2026, after the statutory three-month appeal window had reportedly elapsed.

Her lawyers argue that the delay affected her ability to properly assess the ruling and file an appeal within the required timeframe.

The petition also raises concerns over procedural fairness and calls for an investigation into possible judicial or procedural irregularities in the handling of the judgment.

The divorce case has attracted public attention in recent months due to disputes over property division, child custody and maintenance arrangements.
