Ghana’s Minister for Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, has revealed that the GH¢150 million budget allocated for the Black Stars’ FIFA World Cup campaign is yet to be released by the Ministry of Finance, despite the team entering the decisive phase of its preparations.

Speaking in an interview with TV3, the Minister explained that the funds are still undergoing the required government approval processes before disbursement.

“We are waiting on the Ministry of Finance to release the GH¢150 million allocation for the World Cup after it goes through all the processes,” he said.

The update comes as the Black Stars continue preparations under head coach Carlos Queiroz, with a 28-man squad currently in camp in Cardiff ahead of their final warm-up match against Wales on June 2.

The fixture is expected to be the last opportunity for players to impress before the final 26-man squad is announced on June 1, with two players set to be dropped after the game.

Ghana will conclude their pre-tournament schedule with a friendly against Jamaica on June 10.

The team, representing Ghana at its fifth FIFA World Cup appearance, has been drawn in Group L alongside Panama, England and Croatia.

Their campaign begins on June 17 against Panama at BMO Field, followed by a high-profile clash with England on June 23 at Gillette Stadium, before wrapping up the group stage against Croatia on June 27.

The Black Stars will be targeting a historic return to the knockout stage for the first time since their memorable quarter-final run at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.
