The Ghana Police Service has intensified enforcement against road traffic violations in the Ashanti Region, resulting in the interception of 188 vehicles during a special operation in Kumasi.

The exercise, led by the Ashanti Regional Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD), with support from the Central MTTD in Accra and a team from the Police Headquarters, targeted motorists engaging in unauthorised practices on the roads.

The operation was conducted at the Airport Roundabout and Santasi Roundabout, where officers focused on the unauthorised use of sirens, horns, strobe lights, improvised headlamps, and the unlawful use of road shoulders and verges.

During the exercise, police removed and seized the unauthorised devices and modified vehicle accessories, while affected drivers were educated and cautioned to comply with road traffic regulations.

The Ghana Police Service said the enforcement forms part of efforts to promote discipline, safety and order among road users.

The service added that similar operations will continue across the country to address traffic offences and improve road safety.
