The opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) has annulled purported constituency executive elections held over the weekend in three Ashanti Region seats, citing “flagrant disregard” for party directives and rules.
In a statement the NPP said the National Steering Committee took the decision at a meeting on Wednesday (15 July) to review the conduct of the 2026 Constituency Executive Elections.
The affected constituencies are Bantama, Afigya Sekyere East, and Adansi Asokwa.According to the party, the elections were annulled because they were conducted in breach of party rules and regulations governing the 2026 polls, and in some cases, in defiance of subsisting court orders.
“The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has, with immediate effect, annulled the purported Constituency Executive Elections conducted over the weekend in certain constituencies,” the statement said.
The National Steering Committee has also summoned the Ashanti Regional Steering Committee to appear before it on Tuesday (21 July), to account for the circumstances surrounding the conduct of the elections in the affected areas.
The party further stated that all other outstanding electoral disputes will be referred to the Electoral Affairs Committee of the National Council for advice and recommendations.
