Ghana’s Amadu Mohammed has secured a quarter final ticket in the men’s Bantamweight – 55kg event at the ongoing Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.

Amadu Mohammed qualified after a first round stoppage win over Kiribati’s Eriu Temakau.

The referee stopped was forced to stop the contest after just 57secs, when Mohammed floored Temakau with a powerful right hook.

Sunday’s victory means Amadu Mohammed could secure a podium finish if he wins his fight on Tuesday, 28th July.

Later today, Nancy Bamfo will also face Northern Ireland’s Nicole Clyde in a women’s 54kg round of 16 contest.

Ghana’s last fight for the day is scheduled for two hours later when Adelaide Dede Abaitey faces Fiji’s Jasmine Duanakamakama in a 57kg round of 16 contest.
