Ghana’s tallest man, Abdul-Samed Sulemana, popularly known as Awuche, spent his final days with hope and optimism despite battling serious health complications.
Photos shared shortly before his passing captured the 33-year-old smiling broadly as he posed for the cameras, reflecting the positive spirit many remembered him for.

In one of the final updates on his condition, a representative of businessman and philanthropist Dr. Ibrahim Mahama revealed that Awuche “was in high spirits, and we remained hopeful for his recovery”.
However, Awuche’s condition later deteriorated, leading to his passing on Monday, July 27, 2026.

Expressing condolences to his family and loved ones, Dr. Ibrahim Mahama’s team described him as a remarkable young man whose story touched many hearts.
The team assured Awuche’s family of continued support during the difficult period and prayed for strength and comfort for his loved ones.
Awuche became a national figure because of his extraordinary height, measuring approximately 7 feet 4 inches (2.24 metres), while also drawing attention to the challenges faced by people living with rare medical conditions.
