Former Dome-Kwabenya MP Sarah Adwoa Safo has warned her brother, Israel Nana Kwadwo Safo Akofena, against disrupting the funeral and burial of their late father, Apostle Dr. Kwadwo Safo Kantanka, saying any interference could breach the conditions of his bail.

Speaking on Citi FM on Tuesday (28 July), Adwoa Safo said the funeral arrangements had received approval from the Manhyia Palace and would proceed as scheduled, with the burial set for Gomoa Mpota on Thursday, 30 July.

She alleged that any attempt by her brother or his supporters to cause disturbances at the funeral or related events would amount to a violation of a court-ordered bail bond requiring good behaviour.

“I want to remind him and his thugs that they are under a bail bond, and that bond is to be of good behaviour,” she said.

Adwoa Safo said the warning also extended to memorial events planned at Independence Square on 31 July and Prempeh Assembly Hall in Kumasi on 8 August.

She disclosed that she had requested security support from law enforcement agencies to ensure the funeral and related activities were conducted peacefully.

“We have informed all the law enforcement agencies to provide us with the number of security men they can so that he and his thugs cannot come and shoot at me again,” she said.

The remarks come amid a public dispute within the family over the funeral arrangements for the founder of the Kristo Asafo Mission.

While the Kristo Asafo Mission has said it has not been officially informed of any confirmed funeral or burial plans, Adwoa Safo maintains that the arrangements have received the necessary traditional approval and will proceed.

Apostle Dr. Kwadwo Safo Kantanka, founder of the Kristo Asafo Mission and a renowned Ghanaian inventor and industrialist, died after decades of religious leadership and contributions to indigenous technology.

The disagreement over his final funeral rites has heightened tensions within the Safo family.
