New Patriotic Party (NPP) lawmaker Gloria Owusu has endorsed General Secretary Justin Frimpong Kodua for another term, saying she has come to recognise his wisdom, maturity and leadership abilities.

Owusu, the Member of Parliament for Trobu, made the comments during Kodua’s campaign tour of the Greater Accra Region, where he met constituency executives from Trobu, Okaikwei South, Okaikwei North and Okaikwei Central.

The MP acknowledged that she did not support Kodua’s first bid for the position of General Secretary but said the disagreement did not damage their personal relationship or affect his support for her political career.

According to Owusu, Kodua did not retaliate or undermine her during the 2024 parliamentary elections despite her previous decision not to back his candidacy.

She said his conduct demonstrated maturity and an ability to put the interests of the party ahead of personal disagreements.

“I have come to the realization that JFK is full of wisdom. We must maintain him as General Secretary,” Owusu said.

She also described Kodua as an assertive leader, capable manager and committed team player, saying his leadership had extended beyond the NPP’s internal administration to his engagement with the party’s Minority Caucus in Parliament.

Owusu said Kodua had remained accessible to Minority MPs and responsive to their concerns, contributing to coordination and cohesion within the caucus.

She urged delegates to assess Kodua based on his record, character and leadership capacity rather than personal interests.

The MP called on delegates from the four constituencies to support Kodua’s bid for another term at the NPP’s National Delegates Conference scheduled for October 3 in Kumasi.

Kodua is seeking to retain the General Secretary position as the NPP prepares to reorganise its structures and position itself for the 2028 general elections.
