VfL Osnabruck Technical Director Daniel Latkowski says Ghana international Daniel Kofi Kyereh can still make a significant contribution to the German club despite his recent injury struggles.

Kyereh, 30, joined the German side on a free transfer, with Osnabruck confident that the attacking midfielder can regain his best form and contribute to the team.

Latkowski said the club was attracted by Kyereh’s ability to influence matches through his technical quality, goalscoring and chance creation.

“Kofi has impressively demonstrated his exceptional abilities in the past. He can score goals himself, create opportunities for his teammates, and make the difference with his technical skill and understanding of the game,” Latkowski said.

Kyereh previously enjoyed a productive spell with FC St. Pauli, where he became one of the notable attacking players in the 2. Bundesliga.

“Especially during his time at FC St. Pauli, he was one of the outstanding attacking players in the 2. Bundesliga,” Latkowski added.

The move to Osnabruck, however, comes after a difficult period for the Ghanaian, who has spent significant time on the sidelines because of injury.

Latkowski said the circumstances surrounding Kyereh’s fitness were a factor in making the transfer possible, but stressed that the club did not make the decision without first assessing his condition.

“At the same time, we are of course aware of his long period of suffering. Only these special circumstances allow us to make such a signing,” he said.

Osnabruck’s Head of Performance, Sebastian Schwermann, has been closely monitoring Kyereh’s rehabilitation and physical development.

Latkowski said the club therefore has a detailed understanding of the player’s current condition and progress.

“Thanks to Sebastian Schwermann’s close monitoring, we have a very precise understanding of Kofi’s physical condition, his development, and his current performance level,” he said.

The club believes the assessment gives it sufficient confidence that Kyereh can return to competitive football and contribute to the team.

“Based on this information, we decided on this transfer and are completely convinced that Kofi will soon be back on the pitch for us and will contribute his quality to our team,” Latkowski said.

Kyereh’s return to competitive football will be closely watched, with Osnabruck hoping the Ghanaian can rediscover the form that made him a standout performer in Germany’s second tier.
