Ghana and the Republic of Korea are strengthening cooperation in tourism, culture and the creative arts under a five-year partnership backed by approximately US$4.5 million in financial and technical support.

The partnership is expected to strengthen institutions, build professional capacity and improve the management and preservation of Ghana’s heritage sites.

The Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Abla Dzifa Gomashie, disclosed this during an engagement with a visiting delegation from the Korean National Commission for UNESCO.

Ms Gomashie said the collaboration presented an opportunity for both countries to deepen cultural exchanges and learn from each other’s strengths.

She noted that Ghana could draw lessons from Korea’s discipline, punctuality and work ethic, while Korea could benefit from Ghana’s rich cultural heritage and creative traditions.

The Minister expressed appreciation to the Korean government for its continued support and reaffirmed Ghana’s commitment to ensuring that the partnership produces sustainable benefits for the tourism, culture and creative arts sector.

She said the collaboration would also contribute to strengthening Ghanaian institutions and developing the skills of professionals within the sector.

The Korean delegation, led by Jinsung Jeon, thanked the Minister for the warm reception and reaffirmed its commitment to deepening the relationship between Ghana and South Korea.

The partnership is expected to provide a platform for increased cultural exchanges and cooperation while supporting efforts to preserve Ghana’s heritage and promote its tourism and creative industries.
