With the New Patriotic Party’s Ashanti Regional elections just days away, Tano North MP Gideon Boako on Wednesday (12 August) took his campaign to Afigya Kwabre South, urging delegates to look beyond “lists and propaganda” and back what he called a results-driven leadership under Chairman Odeneho Kwaku Appiah popularly known as “COKA.”

Speaking to party members in the constituency, Boako said internal contests are often clouded by noise, but votes are ultimately cast on performance.

“Propaganda doesn’t win elections. When internal elections crop up you will hear people generating lists… but lists do not win elections,” Boako told delegates.

“This election is about the voters’ aim to get the best for the NPP. And I believe that if the Ashanti NPP will work again, then COKA has started that work. I am for COKA and I believe you are for him too.”

The regional elections are scheduled for Friday, August 15 at Jubilee Park in Kumasi, where the NPP’s largest regional base will elect new executives to steer the party ahead of national contests.

Boako, who represents Tano North in the Ahafo Region, is among several MPs who have intensified campaigns to drum up support.

Delegates in Afigya Kwabre South, one of Ashanti’s key voting blocs, listened as Boako framed the choice in terms of delivery rather than rhetoric.

“For Ashanti NPP to work again, we need leadership that has already started the work.”

“I am for COKA and I know you are for him, too”, he stated.
