Deputy Interior Minister, Ebenezer Okletey Terlabi, has commended the 2026 Civil Service Week celebration, describing it as an important platform to highlight the contribution of the Civil Service to Ghana’s development.

Mr Terlabi made the remarks when he interacted with staff of the Ministry of the Interior and its agencies at an exhibition held at the Accra Sports Stadium as part of the celebration.

He said the exhibition was helping to showcase the strategic role of the Civil Service in Ghana’s sustainable development agenda while creating public awareness of government services.

“The exhibition is also showcasing government’s achievements across the various Ministries and Departments. This is a positive way of creating awareness of the services being provided in the Civil Service,” he said.

The Deputy Minister, accompanied by the Chief Director of the Ministry, Doreen Annan, toured exhibition stands mounted by the Ministry, the Ghana Prisons Service, Ghana National Fire Service, Narcotics Control Commission, National Commission on Small Arms and Light Weapons and other institutions.

He particularly praised the Ghana Prisons Service for showcasing products made by inmates, including dresses, bags, furniture and beads.

Mr Terlabi said the creativity demonstrated by the inmates reflected the importance of skills development and rehabilitation within the prison system.

The 2026 Civil Service Week celebration is being organised by the Office of the Head of Civil Service on the theme: “The Resetting Agenda for Sustainable Development in Ghana: The Civil Service’s Responsibility.”

The annual celebration seeks to recognise the contribution of civil servants to national development while promoting professionalism, efficiency and patriotism in public service.
