Eleven people have died and thirteen others sustained injuries in a multiple-vehicle crash on the Ofankor-Pokuase stretch of the Accra-Kumasi highway.
The accident occurred at about 4am on Thursday, August 13, between the Ofankor Barrier and the John Teye enclave.
The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) said 24 people were involved in the crash, which involved seven vehicles.
The vehicles included two tipper trucks, two Sprinter buses, two saloon cars and a tricycle.
The 13 injured victims have been taken to the Achimota Hospital for medical attention.
The GNFS said personnel from the Amasaman Fire Station and its headquarters were dispatched to the scene to undertake rescue operations.
The cause of the accident is yet to be established.
The GNFS said investigations are underway to determine the circumstances that led to the crash.
The incident has caused disruption to traffic on the Ofankor-Pokuase stretch as emergency teams work at the scene.
