The University of Cape Coast (UCC) has launched its eCampus initiative, a structured online learning platform designed to expand access to postgraduate education for professionals in and outside the country.

Through UCC eCampus, qualified learners will be able to pursue selected UCC postgraduate programmes online without relocating, leaving employment or putting their professional responsibilities on hold.

The launch comes as Professor Denis Worlanyo Aheto begins his tenure as Vice-Chancellor of the institution following his official investiture.

A statement issued by the UCC said at an important point in the university’s leadership, UCC eCampus reflected its continued commitment to academic excellence, wider access and education that responded to the needs of professionals and society.

The platform, it said, would extend selected UCC postgraduate programmes beyond the physical campus through a structured online learning model that combines flexibility with academic rigour.

It said the UCC eCampus platform would offer career-focused programmes in areas, including business administration, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, data science, finance, project management, healthcare management, human resource management, sustainability, supply chain management and organisational leadership.

Responding to the development, Prof. Aheto said: “I regard UCC eCampus as a statement of intent. The UCC has always measured itself by the calibre of graduates it produces and the impact they make. By taking our postgraduate programmes online, we are widening the circle of who can benefit from a UCC education, without compromising a single standard that has earned this university its reputation.”

The UCC eCampus portfolio, the statement said, included Master of Business Administration, Master of Science, Diploma in Business Administration and Doctor of Philosophy programmes developed for professionals at different stages of their careers.

It said the programmes would address current organisational and societal priorities, from digital transformation and responsible leadership to financial management, health care, sustainability and project delivery.

It said students would access lectures, learning resources, assignments, assessments, faculty engagement and academic support through a structured digital learning environment. 

The model, the statement said, was designed to preserve the quality and intellectual demands of postgraduate study while giving learners greater flexibility over where and when they studied.

“UCC eCampus is particularly relevant to professionals seeking to advance in their careers, prepare for leadership responsibilities, move into specialised fields or strengthen their ability to respond to changing workplace demands,” it said.

For his part, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Astria Learning, Dr Jeff Bordes, said: “For many talented professionals, the barrier to further education has never been a lack of ambition.
