The New Patriotic Party (NPP) is holding its regional executive elections today, Saturday, August 15, 2026, as part of efforts to reorganise and strengthen its structures ahead of the 2028 general elections.
Delegates across the country are voting to elect regional executives who will oversee the party’s activities and coordinate its operations at the regional level.
The exercise forms part of the NPP’s wider internal elections, which began with polling station and constituency-level contests.
To ensure a smooth and credible process, the party has deployed national representatives to the various regions to monitor the elections and ensure that approved electoral guidelines are followed.
The representatives are expected to promote transparency and fairness throughout the process and submit reports on the conduct of the elections, including any irregularities recorded.
The party has also directed its Regional Executive Elections Committees to conduct the exercise professionally and maintain discipline at all voting centres.
Several aspirants are contesting key regional positions, including Regional Chairman, First and Second Vice Chairpersons, Secretary, Treasurer, Organiser, Women’s Organiser, Youth Organiser, Communications Officer and Nasara Coordinator.
The elections are being closely watched as the NPP seeks to rebuild and consolidate its grassroots structures following the 2024 general elections and position itself for the 2028 polls.
Results from the various regional contests are expected to be announced after voting and the collation of ballots are completed.
