VIP Jeoun coach catches fire at Abuakwa station, no casualties recorded

A VIP Jeoun coach was destroyed by fire while parked at Abuakwa in the Atwima Nwabiagya Municipality in the Ashanti Region, awaiting its scheduled journey to Accra.
The incident happened on Saturday, 15 August, but no injuries or deaths were recorded because the coach was stationary and had not yet boarded passengers.
Management of VIP Jeoun said the affected vehicle, with registration number GT 6770-18, was expected to commence passenger boarding at 9:30 p.m.
However, at about 6:45 p.m., the conductor, Kwaku Apai, reportedly noticed smoke coming from the coach.
He immediately shut down the vehicle’s power supply and alerted the station supervisor, who subsequently contacted the Ghana National Fire Service.
Management said a replacement coach was arranged to enable passengers to continue their journey as scheduled.
Authorities are expected to determine the cause of the fire and oversee the removal of the remains of the damaged coach.
VIP Jeoun has meanwhile reassured passengers of its commitment to maintaining safe and comfortable transport services.
