Sunbeth Global Concepts, an African agricultural commodity trading and export company, has expanded its operations in Ghana as part of efforts to deepen intra-African trade, strengthen regional partnerships and promote value addition in the agricultural sector.

Founded in Nigeria in 2017, the company trades and exports commodities including cocoa, cashew, soybeans and sesame seeds.

Sunbeth operates across Africa, Europe and the Middle East, exporting more than 200,000 metric tonnes of cocoa beans and 60,000 metric tonnes of cashew nuts to international markets.

The company’s expansion into Ghana follows its acquisition of a licence from the Ghana Cocoa Marketing Company (CMC Ghana), making it the first Nigerian company in decades to receive approval to source Ghanaian cocoa beans directly for international markets.

Sunbeth said the development marks an important step in strengthening trade relations between Ghana and Nigeria while supporting the broader push for increased intra-African trade.

As part of its expansion, the company is investing in agro-processing infrastructure, including a 70,000-metric-tonne cocoa processing facility and an 80,000-metric-tonne cashew processing plant.

Both facilities are expected to be commissioned in the first half of 2027.

The company said the investments are aimed at moving beyond the export of raw commodities towards industrial-scale processing, value addition, job creation and the development of stronger agricultural value chains across Africa.

Managing Director of Sunbeth Global Concepts, Olasunkanmi Owoyemi, said the company’s entry into Ghana was driven by a long-term commitment to Africa’s agricultural sector.

“Our presence in Ghana represents far more than market expansion. It reflects our belief in Africa’s potential to build stronger regional value chains through collaboration, responsible sourcing and long-term investment,” he said.

Mr Owoyemi said Ghana’s internationally recognised cocoa industry provides an opportunity for the company to collaborate with farmers, regulators and other industry players to deliver quality products to global markets while supporting sustainable economic development.

Sunbeth said it would work closely with local stakeholders to promote responsible sourcing, improve market access and contribute to the growth of Ghana’s agricultural export sector.

The company also reaffirmed its commitment to ethical sourcing, sustainability, farmer empowerment and environmental protection.

It said its operations across Africa are supported by investments in systems and partnerships designed to improve transparency, quality assurance and economic opportunities for farming communities.

Sunbeth said it would continue expanding its African operations while connecting the continent’s agricultural products to global markets and investing in infrastructure, partnerships and innovation to unlock greater value from Africa’s agricultural resources.
