The Volta Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Makafui Kofi Woanyah, has pledged to intensify efforts to increase the party’s presidential votes in the region ahead of the 2028 general elections.

Mr Woanyah, who has secured a third consecutive term as Regional Chairman, said the NPP would work to make significant gains in the Volta Region and challenge the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC).

He made the commitment in an interview with Adom News after being sworn into office following the party’s regional executive elections.

Mr Woanyah retained the chairmanship after polling 169 votes to defeat his contender, Joseph Homenya, who obtained 148 votes.

He said his renewed mandate came with the responsibility to unite the party, strengthen its grassroots structures and mobilise support across the region ahead of the 2028 elections.

According to him, the NPP’s electoral fortunes in the region can be improved through unity, effective grassroots mobilisation and a well-planned campaign strategy.

Mr Woanyah expressed confidence that the party could increase its presidential vote share in the Volta Region if members worked together towards a common goal.

He also urged party members and supporters to put the regional elections behind them and focus on the broader objective of strengthening the NPP ahead of the 2028 general elections.

He said his priority during his new term would be to build a stronger, united and more competitive NPP capable of making significant electoral gains in the region.
