Former hiplife musician turned evangelist Yaw Siki has called for pornography to be banned in Ghana, citing the recurring circulation of leaked intimate videos online.

Yaw Siki raised the concern in posts on X on Saturday, 15 August 2026, saying the repeated appearance of sexually explicit material online was exposing young people to pornography.

He said the situation had become a recurring problem that needed to be addressed.

“I have noticed that every year, sexual content leaks in Ghana, triggering the youth to start watching pornography. It must end!” he wrote.

In a separate post, Yaw Siki said he was hoping for measures that would lead to a ban on pornography in the country.

His comments come amid renewed discussion on social media following the circulation of an intimate video allegedly involving Kumawood actor Stephen Yaw Mawunyo, popularly known as Oteele.

The video has generated widespread reactions online, with portions reportedly being shared across various social media platforms.

The latest incident has once again drawn attention to the circulation of private sexual material without the consent of the people involved.

Similar cases have previously triggered public debate in Ghana, including an incident involving radio presenter Rexford Adu Ntim, popularly known as DJ KA.

Another controversy involved a teacher and a student of Bole Senior High School after an intimate video involving them was circulated online.

The rapid spread of such material has raised concerns about privacy, online safety and the exposure of young people to sexually explicit content.

Once leaked videos are uploaded, they can quickly be copied and shared across multiple platforms, making it difficult for those affected to regain control over the material.

Yaw Siki, who has increasingly used his social media platforms to promote his Christian beliefs and comment on social issues, said the recurring nature of the incidents should not be allowed to continue.

His call has added to the wider debate over pornography, digital responsibility, and the need to protect people from the unauthorised distribution of intimate content online.
