Nine aspirants picked nomination forms on the first day of nominations for the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) National Officers Elections, the chairperson of the National Officers Elections Committee, Frederick Opare-Ansah, has disclosed.

Opare-Ansah said two aspirants picked forms for the position of National Chairman, while one aspirant each picked forms for seven other positions.

The breakdown is as follows: National Vice Chairman, General Secretary, National Treasurer, National Organizer, National Women Organizer, National Nasara Coordinator and National Communications Director.

Opare-Ansah made the disclosure after formally opening nominations on Monday (17 August) on behalf of the National Officers Elections Committee.

Some of the aspirants personally picked up their forms, while others were represented by duly authorised persons, he said.

The nomination process will continue until Saturday, 22 August, with forms available daily from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the party’s national headquarters.

The committee has urged interested aspirants to pick up their forms and complete all required procedures within the stipulated period.

Aspirants are also required to pay the prescribed filing fees for their respective positions, either in cash or by cash cheque, during the nomination period.

Opare-Ansah said the committee was committed to ensuring a fair, transparent, orderly and credible process in accordance with the rules and regulations governing the elections.

The opening of nominations marks the formal start of the electoral process for the NPP’s National Officers positions as the party prepares to elect a new national leadership.

The exercise comes as the NPP reorganises its structures ahead of the 2028 general election, after losing power to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the 2024 elections.
