New Patriotic Party (NPP) leaders and delegates in the Ahafo Region have thrown their support behind General Secretary Justin Kodua Frimpong’s bid for re-election, describing his leadership as an “investment worth protecting.”

Frimpong, popularly known as JFK, received the backing during a campaign tour of the region ahead of the NPP’s national executive elections.

Ahafo Regional Chairman Robert Sarfo Mensah said Frimpong had built a strong relationship with the region through his accessibility and willingness to respond to its concerns.

“JFK is not a visitor to Ahafo; he is one of us. Whenever Ahafo calls, he makes himself available,” Mensah said.

“We have seen his leadership and commitment to this region. He is an investment, and we shall protect that investment,” he added.

The campaign tour brought together several members of the regional party leadership, including First Regional Vice Chairman Emmanuel Marfo, Second Regional Vice Chairman Collins O. Mensah, Regional Organiser Bawa Issifu and Regional Communications Officer Asiedu Alfred.

Regional Nasara Organiser Mohammed Mutala, Regional Women’s Organiser Emelia Konadu and Regional Treasurer Eugene Boakye also joined the engagements.

Former regional executives and parliamentary candidates, including former First Regional Vice Chairman Justice Appiah Antwi and former Regional Women’s Organiser Adwoa Fosu, were also present.

The delegation was received on behalf of the regional chairman by former Venture Capital Trust Fund chief executive Yaw Owusu Brempong, who is also a former NPP parliamentary candidate for Asutifi South.

The regional leadership argued that Frimpong’s engagement with Ahafo had extended beyond election campaigns and cited his continued availability to the region during his first term as a reason for retaining him.

Delegates also expressed support for his continued leadership, saying his re-election would allow him to consolidate reforms and strengthen the party’s structures ahead of the 2028 general elections.

Frimpong thanked the regional leadership and delegates for their support and pledged to continue working to strengthen the party’s structures and promote unity across its regions and constituencies.

The NPP, Ghana’s main opposition party, is preparing for its internal elections as it seeks to reorganise and position itself for the 2028 presidential and parliamentary elections.
