GAUA suspends industrial action until 25 August FWSC meeting

TheGhana Association of University Administrators (GAUA) has temporarily suspended its ongoing industrial action, directing members to resume work from Wednesday, 19 August 2026.

The Association’s National Executive Committee (NEC) said the suspension would remain in effect pending further engagements with the government over the issues that led to the strike.

In a notice to members, GAUA said it had scheduled a meeting with the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission (FWSC) for Tuesday, August 25.

The Association said the decision to suspend the strike was intended to create room for further discussions involving the FWSC, the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) and the Minister for Education.

Members have consequently been directed to return to their duties while the negotiations continue.

The NEC thanked members for their solidarity and cooperation throughout the industrial action and urged them to remain committed as discussions with the relevant government institutions proceed.

GAUA said members should await further directives after the August 25 meeting, which is expected to determine the Association’s next steps.

The temporary suspension therefore allows university administrators to resume their duties while negotiations continue over the outstanding issues between the Association and the government.
