Contractors have begun rehabilitation works on the deplorable Hansonic Junction Road, a key stretch along the Odorkor-Kaneshie Road that has caused persistent traffic congestion and posed difficulties for motorists and residents for more than a decade.

The Ablekuma North Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Adamu Musah Kalamu, has assured residents that the road will be fixed within three months, describing the ongoing intervention as a permanent solution to the long-standing problem.

Speaking at the project site, Mr Kalamu said the road’s challenges had persisted for over 10 years and that the current project was intended to finally bring the situation to an end.

“This particular problem has existed on this route for over 10 years. This time around, I have to promise the good people of Ablekuma North that we are going to fix this problem once and for all,” he said.

He said the rehabilitation would involve more than just resurfacing the road, explaining that contractors would construct an underground drainage system to address the drainage challenges that have contributed to the road’s deterioration.

According to the MCE, the project will also include the construction of a stone drain measuring approximately five metres by two metres to improve the flow of stormwater.

Mr Kalamu expressed confidence that the drainage and road works would provide a lasting solution to the recurring challenges on the stretch.

He said the project is expected to be completed within three months, after which the persistent road problem would be a thing of the past.

The MCE also expressed appreciation to President John Dramani Mahama, the Member of Parliament and other stakeholders whom he credited with playing key roles in bringing the project to fruition.

The Hansonic Junction stretch has for years been a major source of gridlock along the Odorkor-Kaneshie corridor, particularly when poor road conditions and drainage challenges affect traffic movement.

The completion of the rehabilitation is expected to improve drainage, restore the road and ease congestion for motorists and residents who depend on the route.
