Ghana head coach Carlos Queiroz has issued a firm reminder to his players to remain fully committed to the collective cause ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, stressing that individual interests will not be tolerated within the squad.

The 73-year-old, who recently took charge on a short-term deal as Otto Addo’s successor, will lead the Black Stars into the tournament in the United States, Canada and Mexico, marking his latest stint on football’s biggest stage.

Speaking on the Beyond The Whistle podcast, the experienced Portuguese tactician—who has previously managed Egypt, Iran and Colombia—emphasised unity and discipline as the foundation of Ghana’s campaign.

“Nobody will be above the team,” he declared.

“Everybody must play with only one thing in mind — Ghana, the pride of the nation and the happiness of the people,” the former Real Madrid boss added.

He further reinforced his stance with a blunt message to the squad: “Nobody will be above the team.”

Ghana, four-time African champions, will be making their fifth appearance at the World Cup finals and have been drawn in Group L alongside Panama, England and Croatia.

The Black Stars will begin their campaign against Panama on June 17, before facing England on June 23 and Croatia on June 27.

In preparation for the tournament, Queiroz’s side will play warm-up matches against Mexico later this month and Wales on June 2, with the coach expected to name his final squad on June 1.
