The Controller and Accountant-General’s Department (CAGD) said Wednesday it had begun paying salary arrears owed to affected education and health workers dating back to August 2024, with the process expected to run over four months.
In a statement signed by the department’s head of public relations, Cephas N. Dosoo, the CAGD said the payments would be made in monthly tranches, each covering four months of arrears.
Under the approved schedule, beneficiaries are expected to receive four months of arrears in May, June, July and August 2026 respectively.
The department said the first tranche of payments would be completed by May 29, 2026.
“Subsequent payments will continue strictly according to the approved schedule until all outstanding arrears are cleared,” the statement said.
The CAGD thanked affected workers for their patience and cooperation during the process.
