AngloGold Ashanti’s Obuasi Mine has organised a two-day training programme to equip small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) with digital marketing skills aimed at boosting local business growth and competitiveness.

The initiative forms part of the company’s 10-year Socio-Economic Development Plan (SEDP), which seeks to strengthen entrepreneurship and promote sustainable development in host communities.

Participants were trained in social media marketing, online branding, customer engagement, and digital content creation, with a focus on expanding market reach through digital platforms.

Facilitators also guided the SMEs on the use of platforms such as Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp Business to improve visibility, attract customers and increase sales in a competitive business environment.

Speaking at the programme, Economic Development Superintendent Daniel Arthur-Bentum, who represented the Director of Sustainability Management Edmund Oduro Agyei, said digital transformation was critical for the survival and growth of local enterprises.

He said equipping SMEs with modern marketing skills would enhance their competitiveness and long-term resilience.

Participants expressed appreciation for the initiative, saying the training had broadened their understanding of digital business opportunities and would positively impact their operations.

The programme adds to a series of enterprise development and capacity-building initiatives being implemented by AngloGold Ashanti to empower local businesses and promote self-sustaining communities in Obuasi.
