Accra-based broadcaster, Kwabena Bobie Ansah has been threatened with legal action over a social media post that allegedly accused a teacher of sexually molesting schoolgirls, according to a demand letter from lawyers acting for the educator.

Lawyers for Agyei Mohammed, popularly known as “Teacher Constitution-Wiamoase”, have demanded that the host of “The Citizen Show” aired on Accra FM, immediately remove the post, issue an unqualified apology and retract the allegations within seven days.

The letter dated 25 May and signed by lawyer Francis Opuni Kesseh of Cowusu Bempah Law Chambers, states that Ansah published a Facebook post on 5 May alleging that the teacher molested young girls.

According to the letter, the post read: “You are paid to teach kids, yet you decide to molest the young girls. Ashanti Region GES must look for this guy. The complaints are becoming too much. Teacher Constitution-Wiamoase Old Evil Man.”

The lawyers argued that the publication falsely portrayed their client as a sexual offender and damaged his reputation.

They further alleged that Ansah published the teacher’s photograph and tagged him in the post, exposing him to widespread public scrutiny and causing embarrassment, humiliation and emotional distress.

“The aforesaid publication is wholly false, malicious, reckless, defamatory and devoid of any factual foundation whatsoever,” the letter said.

The legal team demanded the removal of the publication and all related content from Facebook and any other social media platforms under Ansah’s control. They also requested a full retraction and apology to be published with the same prominence as the original post.

The lawyers warned that failure to comply within seven days would result in legal proceedings seeking damages and other reliefs.

They further indicated that they had instructions to report the publication to Meta, the parent company of Facebook, alleging abuse of the platform and violations of its community standards.
