GoldBod begins new London-based gold pricing regime

The Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) has introduced a new gold pricing regime based on the London Bullion Market Association (LBMA) pricing windows, along with new trading and booking timelines for licensed gold buyers and miners.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, the Board said the new system took effect immediately and is aimed at aligning gold purchases in Ghana with the internationally recognised LBMA AM and PM pricing sessions.

“Effective today, July 1, 2026, the GoldBod has commenced the implementation of its new gold pricing regime based on the London Bullion Market Association (LBMA) AM and PM pricing windows,” the statement said.

Under the new arrangement, GoldBod will publish two official gold purchase prices on every trading day, corresponding with the LBMA’s morning and afternoon pricing sessions.

The AM pricing window will run from 9:30 a.m. to 2:20 p.m., while the PM pricing window will be in effect from 2:30 p.m. to 9:20 a.m. the following day.

To ensure transactions are matched with the appropriate pricing window, the Board has also introduced designated booking periods.

The AM booking window will operate from 9:30 a.m. to 2:20 p.m., while PM bookings can be made between 2:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m., and again from 6:00 a.m. to 9:20 a.m. the following day.

GoldBod further announced that trading and booking activities will be temporarily suspended each day from 9:21 a.m. to 9:29 a.m. and 2:21 p.m. to 2:29 p.m. to allow for the transition between the AM and PM pricing windows.

“Trading shall resume immediately after the suspension periods. No bookings shall be accepted during these suspension periods,” the statement said.

The Board also directed all licensed gold buyers to book every purchase in real time and strictly within the approved booking windows.

“Any booking submitted outside the prescribed booking windows or during the trading suspension periods shall be rejected and shall be deemed to relate to the next applicable pricing window,” it stated.

GoldBod advised licensed buyers to organise their operations to ensure full compliance with the new pricing and booking timelines.

The Board encouraged stakeholders seeking additional information or clarification to contact it through its official communication channels.

According to GoldBod, the new framework forms part of efforts to standardise gold purchasing, improve transparency in transactions and align Ghana’s gold trading system with internationally recognised bullion pricing benchmarks.
