Three men have been arrested after violence broke out during the New Patriotic Party’s constituency executive elections at the Bantama Cultural Centre in Kumasi on Saturday (11 July).
The election reportedly went ahead despite a court injunction seeking to stop the exercise.
Witnesses say voting was in progress when a group of well-built men stormed the venue, allegedly vandalising election materials and causing panic among delegates and party officials.
Police officers providing security quickly intervened and arrested three suspects, who are now assisting with investigations.
The disruption halted the election as security personnel restored order.
