The maiden Eastern Regional EXPO has been launched in Koforidua with a call on all stakeholders to support the initiative aimed at promoting enterprise development, attracting investment, strengthening strategic partnerships, and accelerating economic growth in the Eastern Region.

Dubbed Eastern EXPO, the flagship initiative seeks to promote trade, tourism, and investment opportunities by providing a strategic platform for micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), public institutions, development partners, and the private sector to showcase their products and services, foster collaboration, and build sustainable partnerships.

The event is being held on the theme: “Unlocking Opportunities for Sustainable Trade, Tourism and Investment.”

The Eastern Region is home to some of Ghana’s most iconic tourist attractions, including the Boti Falls, Aburi Botanical Gardens, Kwahu Mountains, and the Akosombo Dam, all of which offer significant eco-tourism potential.

Speaking at the launch, Eastern Regional Minister Rita Akosua Adjei Awatey said the success of the EXPO will depend on the collective efforts of state institutions, the private sector, development partners, financial institutions, tourists, entrepreneurs, and investors in unlocking the vast untapped potential of the region.

“We are endowed with fertile agricultural lands, abundant natural resources, and thriving business centres,” she said.

Awatey noted that the region’s proximity to Accra and its accessibility to neighbouring regions create enormous opportunities for trade, logistics, manufacturing, and investment.

“We want to unlock these potentials by showcasing them as we strive to address the constraints that keep our Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) from growth,” she added.

The maiden Eastern Regional EXPO is scheduled to take place from September 26 to October 3, 2026, at Jackson Park in Koforidua.
