The Ghana Police Service says it has foiled an attempted robbery at a GCB Bank branch in Labone, Accra, leaving two suspected robbers dead and another in police custody.
The incident occurred on Thursday, 13 August 2026, when the suspects allegedly attempted to carry out a robbery at the bank.
The Police Service said its personnel responded to the incident and intervened to thwart the operation.
Two of the suspected robbers were shot during the intervention and subsequently died, while a third suspect was arrested and is currently assisting the police with investigations.
The Police Service said investigations are ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the attempted robbery and determine whether other individuals were involved.
It did not immediately provide further details on the identities of the suspects or whether any police officers, bank staff or members of the public were injured.
