The New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Volta Region says preparations are complete for the party’s upcoming elections in the region, with accreditation arrangements and delegate lists finalised ahead of Saturday’s polls.

Emmanuel Omono Asamoah, Secretary of the NPP Volta Regional Elections Committee, said the committee had taken steps to ensure the elections are transparent, fair and credible.

Speaking on the Asaase Breakfast Show on Friday (14 August), Asamoah said the committee had completed the necessary arrangements for the elections across the region’s eight new constituencies.

“We have done everything possible to make sure that tomorrow’s election comes home absolutely,” he said.

He said the committee had also engaged delegates and other stakeholders as part of preparations for the polls.

According to him, the electoral roll for the eight new constituencies has been prepared, while accreditation arrangements are also in place.

“All the albums are set. We have accreditation and everything is set in the programme,” he said.

Asamoah said the committee was not aware of any major challenge concerning the voter register or eligibility of delegates, although an issue involving four constituencies was still being addressed.

He explained that the mandate of the executives in the affected constituencies had been extended to allow them to continue exercising their responsibilities.

He said the party’s legal team, together with the General Secretary, was reviewing the matter and working to resolve it ahead of the elections.

The elections committee secretary said the preparations had received positive feedback from delegates and other stakeholders.

Although he said he could not directly compare the current preparations with previous elections, he maintained that the committee had made significant efforts to ensure a credible process.

“Listening to aspirants and listening to delegates, we have done extremely good work to ensure that it prevails,” he said.

The NPP’s Volta Regional elections are scheduled for Saturday, August 15, with the committee expected to oversee the process across the region.
