Mohammed Baatima Adam, popularly known as Adam Samba, has retained the Northern Regional Chairmanship of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) after defeating his challenger in the party’s regional executive elections.
Adam Samba secured 215 votes on Saturday, August 15, while Inusah Amadu polled 122 votes.
His victory gives him another mandate to lead the NPP in the Northern Region as the party works to rebuild its grassroots structures and improve its electoral prospects ahead of the 2028 general elections.
Speaking to Citi News after the election, Adam Samba thanked the election committee, delegates, party members, regional executives and polling station executives for their support.
He said his immediate focus would be on increasing the number of parliamentary seats held by the NPP in the Northern Region.
“Our duty [is] to form the majority seats in the Northern Region. Insha Allah, Almighty Allah, we shall do so,” he said.
Adam Samba’s re-election forms part of the NPP’s ongoing regional reorganisation, with the new leadership expected to strengthen grassroots mobilisation and coordinate the party’s activities ahead of the 2028 elections.
