The ECOWAS Commission has paid a courtesy call on the minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, Samuel Nartey George, to deepen collaboration on digital innovation and regional development.

The meeting focused on strengthening partnerships between Ghana and ECOWAS in advancing digital transformation, innovation, and knowledge sharing across West Africa.

Both parties reaffirmed their commitment to working together on initiatives aimed at expanding opportunities for young people and supporting the region’s growing digital economy.

The ECOWAS delegation expressed appreciation for Ghana’s continued leadership and support in regional programmes, including ongoing hackathon initiatives designed to promote innovation among young developers.

Minister Samuel Nartey George reiterated Ghana’s commitment to regional cooperation, stressing the importance of building scalable digital solutions that benefit the wider West African community.

He noted that collaboration within the ECOWAS framework remains key to driving inclusive technological growth and addressing shared challenges in the digital space.

The delegation included officials from the commission’s Digital Economy and Post Directorate, Telecoms and Regulation, Cybersecurity and Applications, as well as Communications.

The visit ended with both sides agreeing to deepen cooperation and explore new areas of engagement to support innovation and digital development across the sub-region.
