Aspiring Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Odeneho Kwaku Appiah, popularly known as Chairman COKA, has pledged to lead efforts to reclaim parliamentary seats lost in the region and increase the party’s presidential votes ahead of the 2028 general elections.

Speaking after undergoing vetting for the regional chairmanship position, Mr. Appiah said his primary objective is to strengthen the party’s structures and improve its electoral performance in the Ashanti Region.

According to him, the NPP under his leadership will work within the law to recover constituencies won by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the 2024 elections while increasing support for the party’s 2028 presidential candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

“I am coming to lead the Ashanti Region so we can do everything legally possible to increase our presidential votes, increase our parliamentary seats, and win Election 2028,” he said.

Expressing confidence in his bid, Chairman COKA declared that he expects to emerge victorious in the regional elections.

“In the next three weeks, I will be the next Chairman of the NPP in the Ashanti Region. Nobody else,” he stated.

The NPP won the Ashanti Region in the 2024 presidential election with about 1.37 million votes, representing approximately 65 per cent of the valid votes cast. However, the party’s vote tally declined from the nearly 1.79 million votes it secured in the 2020 election and it also lost 10 of its 47 parliamentary seats in the region.

Mr. Appiah said his vision is to build a united and well-organised party with effective structures from the polling station level to the regional executive.

He pledged to promote collective leadership and ensure strict adherence to the party’s constitution.

“We will work together. We will decide together. We will enjoy together. And yes, we will even suffer together. But most importantly, we will protect and defend our party constitution,” he said.

Chairman COKA said restoring the NPP to its former strength in the Ashanti Region motivated his decision to contest the chairmanship.
