Black Stars defender Jerome Opoku has stressed that Ghana will remain composed and focused despite their strong start to the World Cup campaign, as attention now shifts to a decisive Group L fixture against Croatia.

Ghana earned a hard-fought goalless draw against England at Gillette Stadium on Tuesday night, a result that took their tally to four points and left them within touching distance of a first knockout-stage appearance since 2010.

Opoku, one of the standout performers in the match, said the squad is determined not to be distracted by early success as they prepare for the final hurdle in the group stage.

“I’m good, positive. I told you before. The vibe is good, man,” he said.

“We’re staying humble. We’re focusing on the next game. We’re not going to let anything get to our heads. We’re going to continue,” Opoku added.

A positive result against Croatia would guarantee Ghana a place in the last 16 for the first time since their memorable quarter-final run at the 2010 FIFA World Cup.

The draw leaves Ghana and England level on four points at the top of Group L heading into their final group fixtures.

England will face Panama, while Ghana take on Croatia in a match that will determine their fate in the competition.
