PresidentJohn Dramani Mahama will today begin a two-day working visit to the Volta Region as part of his Resetting Ghana Tour, during which he is expected to launch new development projects, inspect ongoing infrastructure works and engage residents on government policies.

The visit will begin in Juapong, where the President is scheduled to cut the sod for the construction of 18 24-hour Economy Model Markets, one in each district across the region, as part of the government’s drive to boost local commerce and economic activity.

President Mahama will also visit Peki College of Education (GOVCO) and the University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS) at Sokode, where he is expected to interact with management and stakeholders.

As part of the tour, the President will inspect construction works on the Asikuma–Ho Road being undertaken under the government’s Big Push Programme, before inaugurating the new Akatsi North District Police Headquarters.

He is also expected to host an educational durbar on the government’s Free Primary Healthcare Programme, aimed at increasing public awareness of the policy and its implementation.

The President will be accompanied by Ministers of State, heads of public institutions and Members of Parliament.

On Friday, President Mahama will conclude the visit with a town hall meeting at Ho Technical University, where he is expected to engage traditional leaders and residents on government programmes, ongoing development projects and issues affecting the region.

The engagement will provide an opportunity for citizens to offer feedback and raise concerns directly with the President as the government continues its nationwide outreach under the Resetting Ghana agenda.

Before ending the tour, President Mahama is expected to visit the Ho Sports Stadium to assess the condition of the facility and receive a briefing on its current state and future development needs.
