The Bank of Ghana has expressed its condolences to the people of Dagbon following the death of the Overlord of Dagbon, His Royal Majesty Ndan Yaa-Naa Abukari II.

In a statement issued on Monday (27 July), the central bank said it was “deeply saddened” by the passing of the traditional ruler, describing him as a revered custodian of culture, peace and unity.

The Bank said the Yaa-Naa’s leadership and wisdom contributed significantly to Ghana’s stability and development and noted that his counsel would be greatly missed.

“His Majesty was a revered custodian of culture, peace and unity, and his leadership and wisdom contributed immensely to the stability and development of Ghana,” the statement said.

On behalf of its Board of Directors, Management and Staff, the Bank of Ghana extended its heartfelt condolences to the Elders, the people of Dagbon and the bereaved Royal Family.

The central bank also prayed for strength and fortitude for the people of the Dagbon Kingdom during the mourning period.
